I’m currently doing my Ph.D. in CS at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. I’m a member of the LARA Lab. I did my MS in CS at UMBC as well.
Previously, I was a Research Assistant at the Nanotechnology, IoT and Applied Machine Learning Group at Brac University, working with Dr. Abu Mohsin. I’ve also worked as a Machine Learning Engineer at several SaaS startups on projects involving generative and agentic AI, recommender systems, and product categorization.
Generally, I’m interested in interdisciplinary research on using deep learning to solve accessibility problems. In addition to general accessibility problems and assistive technologies, I’m also interested in the problem of making Explainable AI accessible; that is, how can people with sensory disabilities participate as shareholders by acknowledging explanations and contest errors in AI outputs from assistive devices and software when they are incapable of perceiving the ground truth? Broadly, my research interests fall under these three fields:
- ▸ Accessibility, mainly aids for people with visual, hearing, and/or communication disabilities.
- ▸ Multimodal & Generative Models, including Audio-Language and Audiovisual-Language Models.
- ▸ Explainability, especially in a human-centric manner that actually accounts for people with disabilities.
For fun, you’ll find me playing RTS and RPG games as well as Magic: the Gathering; Reading Fantasy and Sci-Fi (my Book Recommendations); Writing the same, both fanfiction (SV | AO3) and original. Rounding out, I enjoy book clubs, hiking, Dungeons and Dragons, and indoor climbing.
I’m deaf and use a cochlear implant. I can’t sign, but learning ASL is on the to-do list.
