About Me

I’m currently a MS CS student at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, and a member of the LARA Lab.

Previously, I was a Research Assistant at the IoT, Applied Machine Learning and Nanotechnology Research group at Brac University, working with Dr. Abu Mohsin. I’ve also worked as a Machine Learning Engineer at several SaaS startups on projects involving English and Swedish translation and text-to-speech, generative models and recommender systems for fashion, and product categorization using both LLMs and classical ML approaches.

Generally, I’m interested in interdisciplinary research and applications of deep learning and generative models to solve problems that are very difficult or time-consuming for humans to do. I’m also interested in ensuring applications of deep learning remain fair across races, genders and social groups. My assorted research interests include the following:

• ▸ Accessibility, mainly aids for people with visual, hearing, and/or communication disabilities.
• ▸ Multimodal & Generative Models, including Audio-Language and Audiovisual-Language Models.
• ▸ Interpretability & Explainability, as magical black boxes are by nature untrustworthy decision-makers.
• ▸ Fairness in AI, particularly racial and gender equity in applied computer vision, language and audio processing.

For fun, you’ll find me playing RTS and RPG games as well as Magic; Reading Fantasy and Sci-Fi (my Book Recommendations); Writing the same, both fanfiction (SV | AO3) and original. Rounding out, I watch anime, and enjoy walking, running and hiking (I have to touch grass sometime).

I’m deaf and use a cochlear implant. I can’t sign, but learning ASL is on the to-do list.
